THE YACHT-MASTER II
The Skipper’s Watch

The Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II is the ultimate reference chosen by professionals who sail the world. And those whose passion for innovation knows no limits.

AN OBSESSION WITH PERFECTION

The Ring Command Bezel

Rolex achieved perfection when it turned its attention to redefining the purpose and functionality of the bezel. Typically, a bezel operates independently from the internal mechanism, however, the Ring Command bezel in the Yecht-Master II regatta chronograph operates in conjunction with it. A mechanical component that is linked to the movement, the bezel literally acts as the key to the programmable countdown, allowing it to be set and synchronised to the sequence of race start times. Complex in design, but simple in use, it is functionally beautiful.

Rolex Gold

Rolex’s commitment to excellence begins at the source. By operating its own exclusive foundry, Rolex has the unrivalled ability to create new and unique alloys, holding each to the very highest of standards. Rolex’s goal: Absolute purity. Cases, bracelets and components are painstakingly crafted for exceptional durability, colour and beauty.

The Triplock Winding Crown

To protect the movement from water and dust, Rolex invented and patented the Triplock winding crown. This ingenious triple-seal system consists of 10 separate elements crafted from 18ct gold for the crown and special polymers for the gaskets. Once assembled, it screws down on to the Oyster case as tightly and securely as a submarine hatch.

4160 Movement

Unequalled, like every Rolex before it, the Yacht-Master II is a product of legendary craftsmanship. At its core lies the 4160 movement, the result of 35,000 development hours and 360 individual components. Technically brilliant, on or off the water, its signature complication is a programmable countdown with mechanical memory. With a column wheel that extends through the main plate, both sides of the movement are connected. This ingenious design enables the perfect synchronization between the different elements of the countdown. The result? Racers can now set their watch to the exact regatta starting sequences.

Interactive User Guide

The Yacht-Master II is the world’s first regatta chronograph to offer a programmable countdown featuring a mechanical memory. Whether you are at the helm or observing from the dock of the yacht club, the Rolex Yacht-Master II is an indispensable tool that draws you into the race and enables you to propel yourself, with confidence and elegance, full force towards the finish line.

SPIRIT OF THE YACHT-MASTER II

The Rolex Farr 40 World Championship

For 96 hours, a stretch of water will become a sea of sameness. The Rolex Farr 40 World Championship requires that boats, sails, and even total crew weight be equal. What will separate the winning boat from all others will be the crew’s ability to work together as a precisely coordinated team, ready to exploit any and all opportunities the skipper, wind and sea might provide. The difference of a mere split second – something the ocean can give and take away quickly – may be all that’s needed to win.

Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race

Some of the most treacherous waters in the Southern Hemisphere lie between Sydney and Hobart, a distance of 628 nautical miles and nearly a week at sea. Those who make the voyage are on a course to define courage. From the individuals to the teams themselves, the challenge must be faced with grit and stoicism. Those who have made the journey have been known to sav it moved their soul. Facino 60-knot winds and towering seas how could it not?

Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup

There is an elegance that comes with sailing, which is nearly impossible to see in difficult, harsh conditions. But along the Sardinian coastline, the scene is quite different. Here, the world’s most graceful and powerful yachts cut through the Mediterranean with agility, refinement and ease. Perfect sailing conditions and crew coordination are crucial to the wav these imposing boats glide along. An entire team reacting as one is maritime choreography at its finest. Organised by the Yacht club Costa Smeralda, the world famous Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup is very much a competition. To the spectator’s eye, the setting and magnificence of the yachts can make it look otherwise.

Literally Stunning in Bright Sunlight – Golf Course or Ocean, The Platinum Yacht-Master is one of those watches that catches eyes but not in an obtrusive way. I find it hard to wear this watch with a short sleeve shirt because it catches too many eyes so most of the time I wear this watch with a suit. It makes an impression…walk in anywhere with this watch and eyes will turn to it by those who know it for what it is and even people who don’t know Rolex very well will still turn their heads at the sight of this watch – its that beautiful. Generally people stare at it wondering what it is and then get close enough to read it, its a great conversation starter. Its that gorgeous. In broad sunlight on the golf course the dial and bezel play with each other very well and the platinum finish litteraly sparkles in a gorgeous fashion. Its indescribable. I love to play golf with this watch for that reason alone. To me, its the perfect golf watch…the same can be said for wearing this watch on a sailboat on a beautiful sunny day…the sparkle is indescribable, you have to see it to believe it. No other watch or material or finish shines like this watch in bright sunlight.

I must admit, I prefer to wear the Sea-Dweller on a regular basis for its understated elegance and broader vesatility but when the expensive suits or tuxes come out, I generally reach for this watch unless I need a very understated look when I might reach for a leatherband dress watch.

Of note, as far as I know, Rolex does not allow this watch to be officially sold over the internet so don’t know how Amazon is doing it but its here so I thought I’d review it.

How much of this watch is platinum. The dial and bezel are solid platinum — and there’s probably about $2,000 to $3,000 worth of platinum and like I mentioned its just plain stunning in sunlight. The remainder of the body of this watch is made of Rolex’s special high nickle steel. The middle links of the bracelet are polished to a high gloss and this watch feature solid end links which is also a nice touch. This is one of my favorite watches to wear. The sapphire crystal, expensive 3135 movement which goes for several thousand itself, the special metals and careful machining price this watch out as the most expensive of the yacht-master line more than even the gold and steel submariner. Only the Daytona is more expensive before you get into the really high end stuff from Rolex but I think this watch retails for more than the lowest end steel daytonna (or it did). This watch is usually in short supply, if you want to get one, I don’t recommend you passing one up. I find it best to buy from an authorized retailer. You won’t find this watch on sale if you can even find the watch. If you do find one of these, consider yourself lucky and treat the sales person with respect, they probably have two buyers in line for it and be armed with $10k as that’s what it’ll take for you to get this guy on your wrist after taxes.

Some people think that Rolex is overpriced. I do not think so, the company’s history, the fact they make everything in house using the best materials, the fact they give their profits to charity, and the company’s unwavering commitment to watchmaking beyond marketing hype makes these watches timeless. In my opinion in 100 years from now, many trendy watch companies of today might not be around beyond existing in name only — I think that in 100 years Rolex will still be making their watches in house from the finest of materials – that’s the idea of Rolex. As a note, as a watch afficionado, I’ve owned many timepieces and some high end pieces have literally fallen apart on me in the golf course. Never has a Rolex failed me, not through rain or snow or treks through Africa, Asia, Africa, and all over the Americas — few watches can hold such a statement. Quality is #1 for this company.

Yes, this is a luxury piece, insure it, take care of it and it will be with you for a lifetime.

Great watch, but Rolex does not allow to be sold new on the Internet. Period., First, before my review, note that it’s highly questionable whether you are buying a legitimate Rolex here from an authorized dealer (I’m not talking Amazon themselves who I fully trust, this is being sold by a third-party seller). Rolex does not allow Internet sales and will quickly remove authorized dealer status from any dealer they find selling on the Internet AND/OR discounting, which means no warranty or service from Rolex – a must have for this much money. Further, you should question any sale of this particular watch that is below retail new or used, which is $9,450 (not correctly listed here, but perhaps because Rolex raises their prices annually). A reputable private-market seller would never need to sell this particular model for less than retail price.

If you are considering any watch in the price range of a Rolex from their “low end” (which their is no such thing – just less expensive) to $100K, there is no comparison. The quality is incredible. The watch is built and assembled by hand at Rolex. The cases and links are machined of course, but out of high quality, solid metals, but the mechanism / movements are hand assembled and calibrated. It takes over a year to create one.

Yes, you can certainly buy other high quality watches, which I have over the years; but, no one will recognize it as such. It’s individual taste obviously, but if you want to spend a large amount on a watch AND have it recognized by others as a quality piece, then Rolex should be a strong consideration. It is second to none. I’ve never met a watch fanatic or ‘geek’ that would disagree with Rolex’s quality, service and stature – style is the only point of disagreement I’ve run into and read.

If you are looking in the $10K price range, look no further. The 16622 (aka “The Platinum Yacht-Master” or “The Rolesium Yacht-Master”) is an excellent piece. Highly accurate with features not found on any other Rolex such as the ‘maxi-dial’ (larger hour markers and hands than typical). This is one of the Rolexes you can wind. Further, it is NEVER discounted and rather difficult to find due to the limited quantities of this particular model. Since its release in 1997, it’s been sought by collectors and Rolex lovers. It’s not uncommon to find true, verified versions of these on the private after market selling for more than new. Verified Rolexes always hold their value based on condition and the 16622 is the only Rolex besides the Stainless Daytona that has greater value.

So, you might be asking “what exactly on this watch IS platinum and what is stainless (Rolex’s own 420 of course)?” The dial and the bezel are both platinum. Everything else is Rolex’s high quality 420 stainless steel. The case machined from a solid block of it then highly polished. The links, the same, but the center links highly polished and outer links brushed giving a nice ‘two-tone’ look. The attention to detail is there with an embossed, raised Rolex crown on the trip lock winding crown, a red second hand, “Yacht-Master” printed on the face in red, a crown embossed on the clasp lock and Rolex

Overall, the 16622 is a great looking, unassuming Rolex. It’s not too “in your face”, but does grab one’s eye. One who knows Rolex will quickly recognize the classic design. One who doesn’t will take a second glance and I’ve caught people next to me tilting their heads reading the face – unless hard of seeing, people will quickly recognize the Crown and “Rolex” on the Platinum dial.

THE OYSTER PERPETUAL

Legendary Watches

The front-runner in a collection of legendary watches, the Oyster is the most recognized and most easily recognizable of watches.  Over time it has become an archetype.  The Oyster benefits from all the technology and know-how of Rolex.  Aesthetically, these models have evolved subtly over the years, but their unmistakable identity has always been respected.

THE ORIGINS

Hans Wilsdorf

The history of Rolex is inextricably linked to the visionary spirit of Hans Wilsdorf, its founder.  The young man entered the world of Swiss watchmaking in the early 20th century at a time when the pocket watch was the order of the day.  He began to dream of a watch worn on the wrist.  Wristwatches were not very precise but Hans Wilsdorf forsaw that they could become not only elegant, but also reliable.

To convince the public of the reliability of his resolutely innovative timepieces, he equipped them with small, very precise movements manufactured by a Swiss watchmaking company in Bienne.

The Quest for Chronometric Precision

Rolex first concentrated on the quality of the movements.  The relentless quest for chronometric precision rapidly led to success.  In 1910, a Rolex watch became the first wristwatch in the world to receive a Swiss certificate of precision, granted by the Official Watch Rating Centre in Bienne.

Four years later, in 1914, Kew Observatory in Great Britain awarded a Rolex wristwatch a class “A” precision certificate, a distinction which until that point in time had been reserved exclusively for marine chronometers.  From that date forward, the Rolex wristwatch was synonymous with precision.

The Birth of The Waterproof Watch

In 1926, a major step was taken with the invention of the world’s first waterproof and dustproof wristwatch.  This watch named the “Oyster” – featured a hermetically sealed case which provided optimal protection for the movement.

Waterproof, Dustproof, Coldproof

A year after its creation, in 1927, the Oyster crossed the English Channel, worn by a young English swimmer, Mercedes Gleitze.  At the end of her swim, which lasted over 10 hours, the watch remained in perfect working order.  To celebrate this landmark event, Hans Wilsdorf published an advertisement on the front page of the Daily Mail proclaiming the success of the waterproof watch.  The triumph led to the concept of the Testimonee, adventurous men and women, achievers whose exploits and daring would, in time, become so closely associated with the superiority of the Rolex brand.

A Living Laboratory

Rolex recognised the formidable opportunity to test, fine-tune and showcase the technical performance of the Oyster in different arenas.  The worlds of sport, aviation, motor racing and expeditions constituted living laboratories for the watches’ countless technical attributes.

In the realm of motor racing, a beautiful partnership was developed in the 1930s between Rolex and Sir Malcolm Campbell: on 4 September 1935, at the wheel of his Bluebird, this champion of champions set a land speed record of over 300 miles per hour (approximately 484 km/h) at Utah’s Bonneville Speedway.

The Self-Winding Movement

The Oyster soon boasted yet another outstanding feature.  In 1931, Rolex invented and patented the world’s first self-winding mechanism with a Perpetual rotor.  This ingenious system is at the origin of every modern automatic watch.

Rolex Advertising 1935

AN OBSESSION WITH PERFECTION

The Superlative Chronometer

The four simple words SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED engraved on the timepiece’s dial mean that the movement of this watch has endured 15 days and nights of testing by the COSC (Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres), an independent not-for-profit association.  To receive COSC certification – a watch must demonstrate extreme precision in a variety of positions and temperatures – the standard level of quality for every Rolex Chronometer.

The Oyster Case

Very few people in the world are allowed inside a Rolex Oyster.  Only authorized Rolex retailers have the necessary know-how, skills and equipment to gain access.  Hermetically  sealed to the case with a massive torque of five Newton metres, the back of any Oyster, as this caseback demonstrates, creates an environment that protects the movement from shocks, pressure, dust, water and any other intrusive element.

The Oyster Perpetual Movement

The self-winding mechanism consists of a half-moon-shaped oscillating weight, which pivots freely on its central axle, in one direction, then the other with the natural movements of the wrist.  It transmits uninterrupted natural energy to the watch.  The oscillations of the weight create energy which is stored in the mainspring.  Today, a Rolex watch enjoys an autonomy of approximately 50 hours.  The perpetual rotor system of the Oyster movements is recognizable by two red reversing wheels that allow the rewinding of the movement regardless of the rotation direction of the oscillating weight.

904L Steel

Rolex uses 904L steel for its steel watch cases.  904L is usually reserved for the chemical industry, where maximum resistance against corrosion proves essential.  In this manner, 904L perfectly complements the other precious metals used by Rolex.  A super alloy, 904L is unimaginably resistant and able to be polished to a high degree.

Diamonds. And More.

A true jewel, the gem-set Oyster is very wearable luxury, well suited to any situation.  Indeed, the Oyster is meticulously designed with absolute attention to detail in the pursuit of perfection.

THE DATEJUST

The Classic Watch

The Oyster Perpetual Datejust is the ultimate reference chosen by those who believe in timeless elegance.

THE ORIGINS

1945

The First Datejust

In 1945 at the dawn of a new era of prosperity, Rolex launched the first Datejust.  The inaugural model with its waterproofness, streamlined elegance and date aperture on the face of the watch, was a timepiece ahead of its time.

The Mystery Man

In 1947, commemorating the brand’s 100,000th officially certified chronometer, Hans Wilsdorf presented that selfsame Datejust to an illustrious gentleman he described as one of the greatest figures of our time.  To this day, his identity has never been revealed.  ROLEX 1950s ADVERTISING

AN OBSESSION WITH PERFECTION

First Date

In the earliest models of the Datejust, the date would begin to change some hours before its midnight rendezvous.  In 1953, the date-change mechanism became instantaneous, and the date aperture was enhanced with a Cyclops lens enabling magnification of the date by two and half times for easy reading.

Superlative Chronometer

The Fluted Bezel

In the beginning, the Oyster bezel fluting had a functional purpose: it served to screw the bezel onto the case helping to ensure the waterproofness of the watch.  The fluting was, furthermore, identical to the fluting on the caseback, which was also screwed onto the case for the same reason, using specific Rolex tools.  The bezel evolved over time and later would be friction fitted onto the crystal and the case.  The fluting became a purely aesthetic element, a genuine Rolex signature feature.  A mark of distinction that is only available on yellow, Everose or white gold models.

Rolesor

As far back as the 1920s, Rolex watches were available with a two-tone Bicolore gold case: mostly yellow or red gold paired with white gold or platinum.  In 1993 the association of gold and steel was registered by Rolex under the name Rolesor.  Three years after the launch of the Oyster perpetual Datejust in 1945, the model was presented for the first time in Rolesor.  It met with immediate success, achieving the status of a legendary watch distinguishable at a glance.  Today, the Datejust in Rolesor is available in various combinations: steel with white, yellow or Everose gold.

Jubilee, Oyster, Pearlmaster…

Almost as much work goes into creating the Rolex bracelet as the Rolex movement.  Its over 100 moving parts are conceived and crafted simultaneously to ensure perfect homogeneity and fluidity.  Edges are sculpted and smoothed for comfort.  The clasp is designed for easier opening and closing.  The length can also be individually adjusted, providing perfect fit.  But only after it is tested under some of the most extreme conditions does it earn the right to be called a Rolex bracelet.

THE SUBMARINER

The Diver’s Watch

The Oyster Perpetual Submariner is the ultimate reference chosen by professionals with a taste for style and the deep.

THE ORIGINS

1953 The First Submariner

Launched in 1953, the Submariner was the first watch guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 100 metres (330 feet).  Already by 1955, the Submariner became waterproof down to 200 metres (660 feet).  Today’s Submariner can withstand the pressure at a depth of 300 metres (1,000 feet) and is designed to resist extreme conditions

A Perfect Partner On Land Or In The Sea

We invented the Submariner to work perfectly 660 feet under the sea.  It seems to work pretty well at any level. ROLEX 1965 ADVERTISING

AN OBSESSION WITH PERFECTION

The Triplock Winding Crown

To protect the movement from water and dust, Rolex invented and patented the Triplock winding crown.  Professional models equipped with this ingenious triple-seal system, like the Submariner, are waterproof to 300 metres (1,000 feet).  The triplock consists of 10 separate elements crafted from the most reliable materials.  Once assembled, it screws down on to the Oyster case as tightly and securely as a submarine hatch.  Finally to earn the Rolex name the watch is tested at pressures far beyond the guaranteed depth, where few submarines have ever ventured.

Unidirectional Rotatable Bezel

The Submariner was the first diving watch equipped with a rotatable bezel.  The graduations provide the diver with an accurate indication of diving time.  For safety reasons, it rotates only anti-clockwise, so there is no chance of over-estimating the surfacing time or the remaining amount of breathing mix in the tanks.  The luminescent capsule ensures legibility, no matter how light-deprived the environment.

The Ceramic Bezel

The bezel of a watch can deteriorate when exposed to sunlight, chlorinated water or scratches.  This motivated Rolex to create a one-of-a-kind bezel with a Cerachrom disc.  Fashioned from extremely hard ceramic material, it has excellent corrosion-resistant properties, its colour remains unaffected by ultraviolet rays and it is virtually scratch-proof.  To inscribe numerals on this hardest of materials, Rolex further developed and patented a unique process.  The numerals and graduations are carved before the ceramic hardens; the Cerachrom disc is then covered with either yellow gold or platinum, atom by atom, and polished until only the precious metal in the numerals and graduations remains, permanently.

THE COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA

The Driver’s Watch

The Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona is the ultimate reference for those with a passion for driving.  And elegance.

THE ORIGINS

Sir Malcom Campbell

As early as the 1930s, Rolex was already producing its first chronographs.  In 1935, while automobile technology was still in its early stages, British daredevil Sir Malcolm Campbell, with a Rolex on his wrist, set the world land speed record and entered history by exceeding 300 miles (484 kilometres) per hour in his famous “Bluebird”.  An extraordinary achievement for the times!  ROLEX 1930s ADVERTISING

Rolex 24 at Daytona

In racing, sustaining top speeds for extended periods of time is routine.  But for 24 hours straight, on a track only 20% illuminated throughout the night?  This takes a rare caliber of competitor, and is what makes the Rolex 24 At Daytona, at Daytona International Speedway, one of the sport’s most challenging events.  A marathon of speed and patience, drivers from all walks of racing converge for the honor to compete.  Proper rest and resilient machine are crucial.  And since 1962 the debate has been this: what’s harder making it around the track, or around the clock?

Sir Jackie Stewart

Goodwood 1964.  Team bosses are amazed as a young Scot, testing an F3 Cooper for the very first time, beats lap time after lap time set by a leading formula 1 driver.  So begins the career of John Young “Jackie” Stewart.  A career that brings 27 wins in 99 starts and three Formula 1 World Championships.  In addition he’s been a marksman, a team owner and a campaigner for dyslexia awareness.  But possibly his greatest victory came from almost single-handedly revolutionizing motor sport safety.  So, although Sir Jackie himself may have retired from racing, the mark he’s left remains as visible as ever.

AN OBSESSION WITH PERFECTION

On-Board Instrumentation

The Cosmograph Daytona was designed as the ultimate timing tool for drivers in endurance races.  While the central sweep seconds hand allow an accurate reading of 1/8 second, the two counters at 9 and 3 o’clock respectively measure time in hour and minute increments, allowing the driver to map his course times accurately and determine how he must drive in order to achieve victory.

4130 Chronograph Movement

Inside the elegantly designed exterior, the Cosmograph Daytona is a masterpiece of watchmaking art.  The 4130 chronograph caliber movement was conceived and assembled exclusively by Rolex in 2000 for the Cosmograph Daytona and incorporates just 290 components – far fewer than a standard chronograph – making it a much admired symphony of simplicity.  It has a 72-hour Power reserve (66 hours if the stopwatch is in use) and inside, the blue Parachrom hairspring-made from a unique alloy impervious to magnetic fields-gives it up to 10 times more resistance to shocks than conventional hairsprings.

Tachymeter

The Daytona’s engraved bezel can be used as a tachymeter to calculate speed by measuring elapsed time over a predetermined distance.  The Cosmograph Daytona is therefore a perfect instrument for measuring speed of up to 400 units per hour whether expressed in kilometers or miles.

Start. Drive. Stop

At Rolex, form and function work together.  Rolex engineers have applied the most advanced technologies to craft the perfect spring to activate the chronograph mechanism when finger pressure is exerted on the pushers.  The result is not only reliable operation of the chronograph, but also a crisp, clear “click”, well-know by the wearers of this one-of-a-kind timepiece.

SPIRIT OF DAYTONA

Le Mans 24 Hours

Those who have raced Le Mans will tell you this: the gruelling 5,000-kilometre race is not merely a competition, but a test of will.  See how well your reflexes respond as you travel through the dark of night at speeds of up to 350km/h.  The challenge is so all-encompassing that it’s been known to entirely drain participants – both physically and emotionally.  So how exhausting is a win?  Le Mans legend Hurley Haywood once claimed: “If you have on ounce of energy left, then you haven’t done your job properly.”

Customer Reviews

This review is from: Rolex Daytona Oyster Perpetual Men’s Watch Black (Watch)

By G. Hewitt “Just a Guy”

From an owner of this watch., I actually own this watch and I am wearing it as I type. This is known to be one of the hardest to get watches. Authorized dealers are given ONE per year (actually two, but one is black-faced, and one is white faced). The white faced is the most demanded, thus more rare. I waited over a year to get mine, and only by luck did I get mine. The 116520 is milestone of Rolex’s success. It signifies the start of a new era for Rolex… in which EVERY watch, EVERY component, and EVERY piece is made entirely by Rolex across all watches in their production. Until the year 2000, the Daytona’s internal components were made by Zenith & Valjoux (still great quality, but not made by Rolex). This watch retails (at the moment I am writing) for about seven grand. If you want the watch now… you will have to pay over ten to twelve grand. If you want to wait 2-3 years on a waiting list (if you can even find a dealer who has one, usually they only sell this watch to customers who have bought other Rolex’s and don’t hold a waiting list) then go to an authorized dealer and do so. Be careful who you buy this watch from, as fakes are getting better and better. If you do buy one, be sure to take it to an AD (Authorized Dealer) to ensure it is Authentic. If you think this watch is expensive now… wait 5-10 years… it will be worth more than a house in today’s standards. Rolex increases the cost of their watches every year by 7-20%, so this watch is going to go up in value… don’t trust me… watch the prices go up for yourself and see.

Along with new Rolex’s going up in price… your used Rolex does too… eventually your used Rolex is worth more than you bought it new and you can sell it to break even or make profit… and thus the reason that so many collect these timepeices. Of course… if you want to invest your money… you can find a lot greater returns at a bank or financial advisor than in a Rolex.

If you buy this watch above MSRP, you are giving someone a LOT of money… wheras when you buy from Rolex… a large portion of the money goes to Charity… just a FYI.

Details on the watch – The Calibre 4130 (the movement inside the watch) is already being praised by watch authorities as one of the TOP 10 movements ever created… for it’s simplicity, accuracy, and efficiency. It uses less components than other models and is very rugged… this is a watch you could wear jackhammering everyday all year and not have to worry about it breaking.

Rolex Daytona- rare, beautiful, and worth every cent!, As a fairly new Rolex Daytona owner (waiting list for 2 years), I concur with the statements made before me about availability, and cost. The watch speaks for itself (if real) and I am impressed with it more each day. Whether it is an object of love, desire, investment, or indulgence, wanting one is no sin, and owning one sheer pleasure. Of course other than its’ aesthetic beauty, and the feeling of confidence and pride one gets in owning a very high quality ANYTHING (it is first and foremost an unquestioned serious timepiece and item of jewelry), lots of Rolex owners simply LIVE for the reactions of others to the watch. It reflects different things to different people, owners and viewers alike. It outlast owners, and will increase in value each year. I trust other owners will enjoy theirs as much as I do mine. I also own a Movado Men’s diamond Eliro, and while stylish and elegant in its’ own right, the Rolex is a whole other animal.

By Eric S.

Beautiful timepiece, I recently bought a Rolex Yachtmaster and SS BLK Daytona. Of my watches the Daytona is by far my most valued timepiece. Because I bought more than one watch I was able to get a deal on both and paid much less than retail for both. I usually hear people talk about how expensive a Rolex is and that it’s not worth it. My opinion is a man should own at least one Rolex in his life. If you are willing to shell out thousands on a diamond engagement ring for a marriage that may or may not last, then why not treat yourself to a piece of quality that you can actually pass down and that won’t depreciate as fast as a diamond ring. In the end, by this watch because you like it, not for an investment or collector’s item. Not many people even notice it when I wear it, but those that do appreciate the quality.
